BP have provided sponsorship for a Speak Out Now licence to be deployed to a chosen school. Following our invitation to submit an application for a free licence the successful school chosen was Mandeville Primary School in Hackney, London.
Natalie Bennett (Learning mentor), who championed the schools need for the system, was delighted with the award, which was presented at a visit to the school by Operations Director, Kim Fenton and Sales Director, Mike Smith.
Mandeville is an inner city school situated in the East End of London with 327 pupils. It is a wonderful school and as well as delivering on its obligations of educating its children, does a great job of coping with the social pressures in the locale, which include gang, gun and knife crime issues.
The school is in the process of reaching out to its community and involving parents and siblings in discussions around some of these issues, so that it can provide an important community focus and act as a change agent. The school hopes to use the Speak Out Now system as one of the catalysts for this change by involving the community in the bullying issues.
We are delighted to be able to support their work.
