Hampshire schools and Fire Rescue in Anti-Bullying Week

Leesland Junior School - Speak Out Now!

Staff and pupils of Leesland Junior School, Gosport were joined by a crew of fire-fighters from Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service to brave the rain and make a stand against bullying to mark Anti Bullying Week.

The school  and the Fire Service is determined to demonstrate its stance against bullying and to show that it will not be tolerated.

Everyone joined together to form the words – “Speak Out Now!” – the name of the web based Anti bullying software that the school uses to report and manage bullying incidents and were photographed from the top of the fire engine ladder by the Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service photographer.

Leesland Junior school were the first school in the UK to install the Speak Out Now reporting system and have enjoyed some very positive results.

Year 3 Teacher, Jackie Pick says: “This online facility is giving our pupils the confidence to report incidents, secure in the knowledge that their peers will not know who has reported it. One child even used the system to own up to a bullying incident and reported himself."
